September 2011

I have finally caught up with my work.  This has been one of the busiest and most productive season I have kept bees in.  My final honey intake was 145000 lbs, averaging over 200 lbs per hive.  I have finished my 1st round of feeding and the bees are taking the syrup very well.  My mite counts are practically nil which is no surprise to me.  I haven’t seen any sign of DWV and the amount of bees in my boxes year long was outstanding.  Harvest is done and all attention turns towards fall work.

I am going to comment on the season later when I get a chance to elaborate on a few thoughts.  The season went very well but there were a few snags that caught me right off guard.
